Dr. Zhang is a practicing chief surgeon at the Second Hospital of Jilin University. Dr. Zhang obtained her Doctor of Medicine (Surgery) in the Norman Bethune Health Science Center of Jilin University and completed her advanced surgical training in Tohoku University (Japan) and Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin (Germany). She was then accorded Specialist accreditation in General Surgery by Ministry of Health, Jilin. Dr. Zhang received the funding from National Ministry of Health, China and sponsored several research projects funded by Science and Technology Administration of Jilin Province. She has also published numerous articles on breast surgery at peer reviewed SCI journals. She was again awarded the Scientific Progress Award by the Jilin Provincial Government.
Additionally, Dr. Zhang has keen interest in research activities involving development of surgical techniques in breast surgery and outcome of surgical treatment for breast malignancies. Furthermore, she is also actively developing research to help improve surgical education and training for both undergraduate and postgraduate setting. Many of her research work on education aim to understand the art and science behind training the junior doctors to be excellent surgeons for the future.
Dr. Zhang's surgical specialty of practice and interest include: Breast conserving therapy (BCT), Modified Radical Mastectomy, Lumpectomy (Partial Mastectomy), Axillary lymph node dissection (ALND), Sentinel lymph node biopsy, Breast Reconstruction, and Minimally Invasive Breast Surgery.
