Gastrointestinal medicine department of 2nd hospital Jilin University, was founded in 1986 by Yu-fang Song, a famous specialist in Jilin province. In order to adapt to the development of the subject, the Department of gastrointestinal medicine was established in early 2014. There are 19 nurses taking care of 31 opening beds currently. Now we have 11 doctors including 6 professors, 3 attending physicians, and 3 treating physicians. Composed of 4 doctors and 7 masters. Undertaking medical, teaching, and research three aspects of the work, our department has the right to grant a master's degree.

　　Our department mainly diagnose and treat gastrointestinal diseases, is equipped with the world's advanced electronic gastroscopy, colonoscopy, endoscopic ultrasonography, duodenoscope and related equipment. Every year we help almost 35 thousands patients, including 17 thousands outpatients, diagnosing or treating by the gastroscopy or colonoscopy. Tract, crisis, and severe hospitalized patients are the based patients in the treatment of acute gastrointestinal diseases, such as digestive tract hemorrhage, moderate or severe ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, and intestinal tuberculosis. First-class therapeutic effect has been obtained in the majority of patients.

The digestive tract benign and malignant stricture dilatation and balloon dilatation in the treatment of achalasia. 10. Foreign body removal of digestive tract. 11. Stent insertion of digestive tract. 12. Excision of early carcinoma of digestive tract. 13. Gastrolith lithotripsy. 14. Ultrasonic endoscopy, ultrasound colonoscopy.

　　Since the establishment, our department undertake the task of teaching the students of the Jilin University Bethune School of medicine in 5 year undergraduates, seven year undergraduate, eight year graduate, diversification students, foreign students, the residency training students and the refresher doctors in primary hospitals. Cultivated a large number of professional and technical doctors for the country, our department is a National Clinical Pharmacology Base.

　　In nearly 5 years, our department staff have completed three provincial or ministerial level longitudinal research project, four horizontal research project, two educative reform project of Jilin University, three provincial continuing medical education. All published more than 130 papers, a textbook in Jilin University in 115 project, and all kinds of clinical monographs 8.
